The notices describe three planned separation dates. They do not say the Plantation Road facility is closing.

Wells Fargo has notified Virginia and Roanoke County officials that it plans to lay off 87 workers at 7711 Plantation Road in Roanoke County.[1] [2] Virginia Works’ WARN register lists an Oct. 28 notice date and Nov. 28 as the initial impact date.[1]

The employer filing posted by Virginia Works separates the planned reductions into three notices: 60 positions with a Nov. 28 separation date, six with a Dec. 12 separation date and 21 with a Dec. 26 separation date.[2] The notices describe each layoff as expected to be permanent and the employment action as an operating-unit exit; they do not describe a closure of the entire Plantation Road facility.[2]

Wells Fargo says in the notices that eligible affected employees may receive severance based on years of service, a period of continued health-plan participation at active rates, and access to career-transition services.[2] Those are the company’s stated transition provisions, not confirmation that any individual has received them.[2]

A separate Virginia Economic Development Partnership report provides limited, dated context for a Wells Fargo expansion grant in Roanoke.[3] As of the report’s June 30, 2026 cutoff, project 2023-143212 listed a $15 million grant, $0 paid to date, a Dec. 31, 2033 performance date, and targets of 1,100 jobs and $87 million in capital investment.[3] The same report marks the project’s job-creation and capital-investment results as TBD because the company had not yet filed its first payment application; it does not establish a current employment count or later grant payments.[3]

Neither the WARN notices nor the June grant report says whether the planned layoffs affect the project’s qualifying job count or breach grant terms.[2] [3] The scheduled separation dates are the next public checkpoints; the records do not establish that the reductions have already occurred.[2]
