Every investigation should be reproducible from the record. Our working standard separates what documents prove, what the available evidence suggests, what remains disputed, and what is still unknown.
Evidence labels
- Documented: directly supported by a cited public record or attributable statement.
- Analysis: a calculation or interpretation based on disclosed inputs.
- Disputed: material claims on which credible sources disagree.
- Unresolved: a question the available record does not answer.
Right of reply
People and agencies facing material criticism are offered a fair opportunity to respond before publication. Responses are represented accurately and without selective editing that changes their meaning.
