Roanoke County supervisors are scheduled to hold a public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 27, on a request that would allow a 285-unit multifamily development at 5555 The Peaks Drive in the Cave Spring Magisterial District.[1]

The county agenda identifies the applicant as The Gallery at South Peak, LLC.[1] It lists a request to rezone about 10.83 acres from R-4C, High Density Multi-Family Residential with Conditions, to C-2C, High Intensity Commercial with Conditions, and to obtain a special-use permit for multifamily dwellings.[1]

What is scheduled

The Board of Supervisors agenda places the item under “Second Reading of Ordinance and Public Hearing.”[1] The agenda says the board’s fourth-Tuesday public hearings begin at 6 p.m.[1] The county calendar lists the Oct. 27 Board of Supervisors meeting at 5204 Bernard Drive SW.[2]

The proposal was also listed as a public-hearing item on the Planning Commission’s Oct. 6 agenda.[3] That prior listing does not establish a Planning Commission recommendation or a Board of Supervisors decision.[3]

What the current records do not establish

The reviewed agendas do not establish whether the request will be approved, what conditions may be attached, a construction schedule, rents or affordability commitments, traffic or service impacts, or a final project design.[1] The public hearing is the next documented decision point.[1]
